This Keyless2Go remote head key is an affordable and dependable choice for Subaru owners needing a replacement remote head key.
Was having issues with my 20yr old fobs and so I gave this a shot before replacing the receiver/security module. Programming took all of 30 seconds. I've yet to need to use the turnkey to open the car.Differing from OEM, this has rubber buttons in place of plastic and the back has an easily accessible screw for battery replacement. Of course, no Subaru logo. Great product overall.
Works just like the Factory one I lost. Was able to program it myself. Kind of a p.i.t.a. but got it done saving lots of money, very happy. Shipping speed was good. Now hopefully it lasts. Seems well built.Update.... don't bother programming it yourself. You HAVE to have a locksmith or dealer program the transponder, otherwise it won't start the car. Cost $80 to cut and program it. Ugh! Expensive mistake losing it.
I bought this because I had only one key for my 2008 Subaru. It came with a six digit code which I used to program the key (see online videos - you use the door lock and unlock rocker switch). This worked so that the remote was able to lock and unlock the car as expected. However, the key WOULD NOT START THE CAR. Instead the car would fire for a second and shut off and the “security†light would come on.Thus I was forced to go to a dealer to get that part programmed. Total cost was $40 for the key and $60 to get it programmed by the dealer. If I had gone directly to the dealer I was quoted $179.
This works for Subaru Outback 2009.It is well made according to the programing guys that have seen a lot of keys. The only thing keeping it from getting 5 stars is the responsiveness of the remote. Whereas for the OEM I just have to press the button for the car to pickup the command, with these I have to keep it pressed for a bit longer.
